To align with urban development, promote community integration, and enrich and enhance Macau’s existing public transport network, the Macau Government is constructing the LRT East Line, which connects the Macau Peninsula to Taipa.

The LRT East Line has a total length of approximately 7.7 kilometers, with 6 stations in total. Starting from the area near Border Gate in the north, it runs along the coast off Praia Grande Norte and Amizade Bridge Avenue to New Urban Zone A. It then extends southward along the Central Green Corridor of New Urban Zone A and crosses the sea to connect to New Urban Zone E. The station in New Urban Zone E will link to the Taipa Ferry Terminal Station of the existing LRT Taipa Line.

LRT East Line Project Information (Macau Public Works Bureau - DSOP)

The LRT East Line project is expected to be completed in Q1 2028 and be ready for operation in the second half of 2029.

Taking the opportunity of the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) East Line construction, the Public Works Bureau plans to fully utilize the tidal flat remediation areas and carry out comprehensive renovation and improvement of the tidal flat areas along Avenida Norte do Hipódromo and Avenida da Amizade.

The plan includes:

▪ Constructing a leisure area equipped with bicycle paths, recreational and sports facilities, sports venues, and children's playground facilities.

▪ Creating green areas around light rapid transit station.

▪ Restoring and extending the coastal footpath.

▪ Building an underground car park in the tidal flat remediation area between LRT ES1 and ES2 stations.
